A group of ministers from the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to tackle the issue of PT Sritex employees who were recently laid off. The meeting, spearheaded by Prabowo, centered on finding solutions for the affected workers. In attendance were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.

During the meeting, Prasetyo underscored the president’s deep concern for the workers and stressed the immediate need to address the challenges faced by PT Sritex following its bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a revamped working arrangement in the textile industry. Minister Yassierli praised the curator for their dedication in exploring the possibility of rehiring former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.

Furthermore, Prabowo’s unwavering commitment to offer assistance and guidance is expected to bring relief to the PT Sritex employees impacted by the layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively ensuring that PT Sritex Group workers receive the appropriate layoff compensation and other legal entitlements. Meanwhile, the PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of identifying potential investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new framework, which will subsequently facilitate the reemployment of the displaced workers. These initiatives are aimed at providing stability to the affected employees and offering a solution to their current predicament.
