Jakarta – Prabowo Subianto, candidate number 2 for president and Minister of Defense of Indonesia, brought back Annisah, a Female Migrant Worker (TKW) to the homeland. Annisah was previously stranded in Malaysia because her passport was held by an agent.

Initially, Prabowo received a report about Annisah from a mother when he visited his parents’ grave at Taman Makam Karet Bivak, South Jakarta, a day after the election (15/2).

A woman named Eny ran towards Prabowo, crying and asking for help to bring back her child who had been working in Malaysia for five years but could not return.

After hearing Eny’s story, Prabowo asked his personal secretary Rajif Sutirto to contact the Chairman of the Merah Putih Network (JMP), Nanik S Deyang, to facilitate Annisah’s return.

Two weeks later, the permit for Annisah to return without a passport from the Malaysian Immigration was issued on Thursday (14/3) and Annisah was able to set foot in Indonesia again, reuniting with her mother and child.

Annisah arrived in Jakarta and was welcomed with tears of joy by her two children and mother.

“Thank you, Mr. Prabowo, my mother has returned,” said Annisah’s daughter while crying.

Eny was also touched and expressed her gratitude to Prabowo for successfully bringing Annisah back to Indonesia.

“Sir, thank you, Sir (Prabowo) for bringing my child back to Indonesia,” said Eny.

For Annisah’s return, Prabowo asked Nanik to coordinate with various parties, including Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor, to pressure the Malaysian Adnaker to locate Annisah.

On February 19, 2024, Annisah’s whereabouts were finally found, and Nanik reported to Prabowo to fly to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and meet Annisah.

After meeting her, it was revealed that Annisah was a legal migrant worker who was sent from Indonesia through an agency and had a passport.

Annisah was first placed to work in Singapore in 2018. Less than a year in Singapore, her agency moved her to Malaysia.

However, while working in Malaysia, Annisah was placed in a family with many children, so besides taking care of her employer’s children, she also had to work on household chores. This made her work very tiring, almost 24 hours a day.

Annisah could not bear the excessive workload and tried several times to ask her agency to send her back to Indonesia.

However, the agency ignored her requests. Annisah then tried to contact her agency again to ask for her passport and other important documents that were held, but the agency had already closed.

Unable to bear the excessive workload, Annisah ran away from her employer’s house to work elsewhere part-time.

At the same time, Annisah tried to find her personal documents so she could return to Indonesia. She was also in urgent need of money as she had to pay a RM 3,100 overstay fine to the Malaysian Immigration.

After hearing about Annisah’s situation, Nanik could not immediately bring her back to Indonesia.

Nanik then reported back to Prabowo, and Prabowo took care of all matters, including Annisah’s administrative costs and return ticket to Indonesia. (SENOPATI)
