Cleetus McFarland is eagerly awaiting news about whether he will be able to race in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series event at Talladega Superspeedway on April 25. He mentioned in his Bald Eagles podcast on Monday that he will find out on Tuesday if he has been approved after his weekend at Rockingham Speedway. Despite his desire to participate, McFarland remains grounded, stating that the summer races at Daytona and Talladega are more realistic goals for him.
Following his performance at the NOAPS race, where he finished six laps down but managed to complete the race despite some challenges, Richard Childress Racing executive Danny Lawrence expressed uncertainty about whether McFarland had done enough to earn a superspeedway license. Lawrence highlighted that certain elements, like live pit stops, were missing from the race, and there might be a need for McFarland to participate in another race before heading to Daytona and Talladega.
If McFarland does not receive approval for the NOAPS event, he still has plans to compete in the ARCA Racing Series race at Talladega in the upcoming April race weekend. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his NASCAR approval, McFarland remains focused on his racing career and is determined to make the most of any opportunities that come his way.
