Lia Block, a former Williams F1 Academy driver, teamed up with Alex Gelsomino, Ken Block’s former co-driver, to compete in the Sno*Drift Rally in northern Michigan. This rally marked the first round of the 2026 American Rally Association season. Facing challenges like cold temperatures and limited tire options due to the prohibition of studs, Block shared her experience and excitement for this unique event in a video posted by Block House Racing.
Despite her lack of experience in snow rallies, Block was determined to finish the race, especially as this rally was her first time working with Alex Gelsomino as her navigator. Throughout the event, Block showed impressive performance and resilience, securing a strong position despite the difficult conditions and tough competition, including Travis Pastrana.
As the rally progressed, Block faced setbacks like mechanical issues, but her perseverance and skill allowed her to maintain her ranking and even challenge Pastrana for the lead. However, a breakdown in the final stage resulted in disqualification due to receiving outside assistance, despite her efforts to complete the race without giving up.
Reflecting on the race and the unfortunate disqualification, Block remained positive and focused on the lessons learned from this experience. While disappointed with the outcome, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete and finish the rally. With a strong spirit and determination, Block aims to regroup and continue improving her performance in future races, showcasing her passion and dedication to the sport. Throughout this challenging event, Block’s talent and resilience shone brightly, proving her potential in the world of rally racing.
