Tyler Reddick continues to dominate the NASCAR Cup season by securing his third consecutive win at the 2026 season opener, with Shane van Gisbergen providing a tough challenge at COTA. Reddick’s victory marks a historic achievement in NASCAR as the first driver to win the first three races of a season, including Daytona and Atlanta. The 23XI Racing team, owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin, also set a milestone by winning the first three races, a feat last accomplished by Petty Enterprises in 1963. Reddick’s win at COTA solidifies his lead in the championship standings, finishing ahead of van Gisbergen by a margin of approximately four seconds.
Reflecting on his victory, Reddick expressed his pride in the team’s efforts and the significance of achieving three consecutive wins. The race featured notable performances from Christopher Bell, Ty Gibbs, and Michael McDowell, who finished in the top five. The top ten positions were rounded out by Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, AJ Allmendinger, and Denny Hamlin.
The race unfolded in three stages, with standout moments including Briscoe’s early lead, Chastain’s victory in Stage 1, and Gibbs’ triumph in Stage 2. Stage 3 saw intense battles among the leaders, culminating in van Gisbergen challenging Reddick for the lead. Despite strong competition, Reddick successfully defended his position and claimed the victory. The race concluded without additional cautions, with Carson Hocevar’s spin on the final lap as the only event affecting the closing moments of the race.
