President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the success of the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) program during the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) in Jakarta. The program, which has been running for eight months, has benefitted 20 million recipients including school-age children, preschoolers, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. With 5,800 Nutritional Service Units (SPPG) established across 38 provinces, MBG has created 290,000 new jobs and engaged one million farmers, fishers, livestock breeders, and small to medium-sized enterprises.

President Prabowo emphasized that MBG is not just a social welfare initiative but a strategic move to build a healthy, intelligent, and productive generation. The program has already shown positive results with increased school attendance and improved academic performance. He pointed out that Indonesia’s progress with MBG has exceeded the pace of many other countries, citing Brazil which took 11 years to reach a similar milestone.

The President stressed the importance of MBG as an investment in the nation’s future, as recognized by the United Nations. He highlighted the commitment and capabilities of the Indonesian people in achieving significant milestones when working together. The Annual Session, attended by various leaders and members of state institutions, marked the government’s dedication to improving the well-being and development of the Indonesian population.
