Prabowo Criticizes Scrapping of SOE Bonuses as a Manipulative Move

by -12 Views

President Prabowo Subianto recently made a bold decision to end the tantiem bonus scheme for commissioners and directors of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) that are experiencing losses. During the presentation of the 2026 State Budget Bill, he expressed his disbelief in the practices surrounding tantiem, referring to it as an absurd profit-sharing bonus scheme for SOE executives. Prabowo emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in SOE management, highlighting instances where commissioners received substantial tantiem payments despite minimal involvement in company affairs. He also pointed out the excessive number of commissioners in some loss-making SOEs, leading him to reduce the maximum number of commissioners to promote more effective governance. Prabowo stressed the importance of prudent spending of public funds, emphasizing the need for efficient allocation to benefit the Indonesian people through job creation, increased purchasing power, and improved public services.
