Farmer’s Importance in President Prabowo Subianto’s Heart

In Bengkulu on August 13, 2025, Dedek Prayudi, Senior Expert at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), highlighted the special connection President Prabowo Subianto has with farmers. Prayudi, known as Uki, mentioned two significant moments in Prabowo’s life that solidified this bond. Firstly, during his time as a military officer, Prabowo received crucial assistance from local communities and farmers. Secondly, his leadership in the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI) further deepened this relationship.

The context of their discussion took place during the corn harvest for the Food Security Program in Jenggalu Village, Seluma Regency, Bengkulu Province. Uki emphasized the importance of this program, particularly in light of the global food security situation that necessitates Indonesia’s reduced reliance on foreign food sources. He pointed out that disruptions in food exports from major producing countries like India, Brazil, and China could lead to soaring global food prices affecting Indonesia.

The event showcased a harvest of around 10 tons from 1.5 hectares, underscoring the positive impact of government support through subsidized fertilizers, pesticides, and agricultural equipment. Uki encouraged the village head to streamline administrative procedures for farmers to access these resources effectively. He stressed the need to maximize government facilities to increase production capacity and farmer satisfaction.

Furthermore, Kelik Budianan, Head of the Food Data and Information Center at the National Food Agency (Pusdatin Bapanas), expressed full support for President Prabowo’s efforts. Collaboration with the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) is underway to absorb farmers’ corn harvests. Additionally, efforts are being made to integrate supply chains between farmers and livestock breeders, ensuring favorable market conditions for both crops and livestock.

The gathering included key figures such as Sukaraja District Head Ramlan Effendi, Jenggalu Village Head Johni Midarling, Maret Samuel Sueken from the National Development Policy Assistance Network (JPKP), representatives from Pupuk Indonesia, and the local community of Jenggalu. As they work together towards food security and sustainable agriculture, the commitment to supporting farmers remains at the forefront of President Prabowo’s initiatives.
