Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development (Wamendukbangga) Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka emphasized the importance of parents staying updated on their children’s interests and engaging in physical activities together to prevent addiction to games and gadgets. She shared this advice during a discussion on The Role of Family Development in Welcoming a Golden Indonesia 2045, organized by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) and Gempita in Jakarta. Isyana highlighted the need for parents to continuously learn and familiarize themselves with current online applications as children tend to learn quickly. She pointed out that children are naturally drawn to activities that provide instant gratification, such as scrolling on social media or playing online games, which can lead to addiction. To combat this, she suggested engaging children in outdoor activities and sports to stimulate dopamine production in a healthier way, echoing Deputy Minister Veronica Tan’s promotion of physical activity spaces like Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI). Through RBI, children have access to safe and creative spaces, encouraging traditional games, sports, and creative activities while reducing dependency on gadgets.
