National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is taking steps to recruit individuals from underprivileged communities to work in the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) as part of their initiative to boost local employment. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to BGN, mentioned that at least 30% of the personnel in each SPPG will be selected from households in extreme poverty. This move is in alignment with the President’s directive to ensure that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program contributes to job creation, particularly for families in the lowest economic deciles. Currently, there are 2,378 SPPG units established in collaboration with 6,076 local economic institutions, including cooperatives, village-owned enterprises, and MSMEs. These units have engaged 93,572 local community members as volunteers. The MBG Program has already reached 7,444,238 beneficiaries nationwide, including various categories such as early childhood education, schools, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers, and more. In the next 10 days, BGN plans to launch an additional 2,401 SPPG units, aiming to serve around 15 million beneficiaries across the country.
