Ester Nenggokaka, a native of Southwest Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, embodies the essence of simplicity in her daily life. Despite the challenges she faces, her unwavering dedication to providing the best for her two children shines through. By selling vegetables and taking care of her family, Ester showcases resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
Her youngest child, Lorensius Aganta, struggled with underweight issues, only weighing 7 kilograms before benefiting from the Free Nutritious Meal (Makan Bergizi Gratis, MBG) program. Ester expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the program, emphasizing the positive impact it had on her son’s health.
The regular provision of MBG meals has resulted in a noticeable improvement in her son’s weight, prompting Ester to eagerly await the next health check at the local community clinic to track his progress. Every morning, she receives a variety of nutritious food items such as eggs, fish, meat, tofu, tempeh, and vegetables for her children, ensuring they maintain a well-balanced diet.
While acknowledging the invaluable support of the MBG program, Ester remains optimistic about the future. She envisions a brighter tomorrow and hopes for continued assistance from President Prabowo to enhance their quality of life. Despite facing challenges like lack of electricity and land ownership, Ester finds comfort in the nourishing meals that not only support her child’s growth but also cultivate a sense of hope for the days ahead.
