Prabowo Welcomes Macron: A Royal Red, White, and Blue Meeting

Indonesia and France have maintained diplomatic relations for over 70 years since 1947. Recently, French President Emmanuel Macron was warmly welcomed in Jakarta by President Prabowo Subianto to strengthen the friendship between the two countries. The grand state welcome took place at the Merdeka Palace, where around 3,000 students from different educational levels dressed neatly and displayed the flags of Indonesia and France. President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron arrived at the palace amid tight security, creating a ceremonial atmosphere filled with excitement.

The official welcome at Merdeka Palace was marked by President Macron greeting the students and receiving an official welcome from President Prabowo Subianto. The two leaders walked together to the ceremonial grounds as the national anthems of both countries played and a 21-gun salute honored the occasion. The honor guard was inspected under the clear blue sky of Jakarta, with Macron appreciating the students’ enthusiasm in the palace courtyard. Ministers from the Red and White Cabinet and Prabowo’s son, Ragowo Hediprasetyo, were present at the ceremony.

President Macron’s visit to Indonesia included a visit to the Military Academy in Magelang and a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage site, Borobudur Temple, highlighting the shared cultural and educational values of Indonesia and France. Following the welcome ceremony, the two heads of state engaged in a closed-door bilateral meeting to discuss strategic partnerships, further solidifying the relationship between Indonesia and France. This visit represents a significant step in deepening ties and fostering mutual respect between the two nations.
