Jakarta – Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto attended as a keynote speaker at the Mandiri Investment Forum (MIF) 2024 event with the theme “Thriving through Transition” at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, on Tuesday (5/3).
In his opening remarks, Prabowo expressed his pride and appreciation for the various achievements that Bank Mandiri has achieved so far. “I want to convey my admiration for the performance of Bank Mandiri. As an Indonesian, I am proud of Bank Mandiri,” he said.
Prabowo continued, he has a personal connection with Bank Mandiri because he was once a client of the bank.
In front of Bank Mandiri’s President Director, Darmawan Junaidi, and the participants, Prabowo also said that when he was a client, he had a good track record with Bank Mandiri because he successfully paid off all his debts.
“I have a personal connection with Bank Mandiri, I used to be a client of Bank Mandiri years ago. And in my opinion, my track record at Bank Mandiri is not too bad, Mr. Darmawan, right?” said Prabowo.
“I paid off 100% of the debt. In my opinion, maybe in Indonesian history, I am one of the few clients who paid off 100% of the debt,” he added.
In addition, Prabowo also appreciated Bank Mandiri as one of the banks with the lowest nonperforming loans (NPL) in Indonesia and Asia.
With all the achievements that have been made, Prabowo hopes that Bank Mandiri can continue to maintain and even improve its good performance, as they have a great responsibility in managing the money of the Indonesian people.
“Once again, as a citizen of Indonesia, I appreciate what you manage because it is the money of the Indonesian people. This is a great responsibility and you have done it well. Continue this extraordinary performance,” said Prabowo.
As the grandson of the founder of one of the state-owned banks, Margono Djojohadikusumo, Prabowo also hopes that the management of state funds full of responsibility and accountability can be continued.
